Bio
Muhammad Refaat was born in 1987 in the city of Cairo, Egypt. He earned his master's in Comparative Literature, while his Bachelor's was in mass communication at Cairo University. He then received a scholarship to continue his studies in film production at the School of Windesheimthe in the Netherlands.
Since 2009, he has managed an expansive editorial and production portfolio bridging the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, establishing himself as a vital link between regional voices and Western distribution platforms. As a leading strategist on the circuit, Refaat designs festival and awards pathways that consistently yield elite global recognition; his managed projects have secured prestigious selections at top-tier international venues, including Cannes, Sundance, Locarno, Venice, Toronto, IDFA, and several others. Holding a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature, he remains a dedicated champion of independent cinema and a prominent strategic force in contemporary international film ecosystems.
